چکیده
1 Purpose To study the pathomorphology of subretinal hemorrhage (SRH) seen in eyes with 2 branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and its association with visual prognosis. 3 Methods We reviewed retrospectively 42 consecutive patients (42 eyes) with BRVO that 4 affected the fovea. Retinal structural changes were examined by spectral domain optical 5 coherence tomography (SD-OCT). 6 Results On SD-OCT sections, serous retinal detachment was seen at the fovea in 35 eyes, 18 of 7 which accompanied foveal SRH. While initial detection of foveal SRH had no correlation with 8 initial visual acuity (VA), it was correlated with poorer final VA (r = 0.361, P = 0.019). Our 9 patients were classified into two groups by the initial detection of foveal SRH, and initial VA was 10 not different between these two groups. At the final examination, damaged lengths in the foveal 11 photoreceptor layer were significantly longer in the SRH positive group than those in the SRH 12 negative group (P = 0.004), and final VA in the SRH positive group was significantly worse than 13 that in the SRH negative group (P = 0.019). 14 Conclusion Foveal SRH is not an uncommon feature in BRVO and may cause subsequent 15 damage to the foveal photoreceptor layer, resulting in poor visual function. 16

متن کاملFundus Autofluorescence and Optical Coherence Tomography Findings in Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion
Purpose. To describe the findings of fundus autofluorescence (FAF) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods. In this institutional, retrospective, observational case series, FAF was evaluated in 65 eyes with BRVO in 64 consecutive patients and compared with visual acuity, OCT findings, and other clinical observations. Results. Five ty...
متن کاملCase Report of Optic Disc Drusen with Simultaneous Peripapillary Subretinal Hemorrhage and Central Retinal Vein Occlusion
A 52-year-old Chinese gentleman presented with right eye floaters and photopsia over one week. His visual acuities were 20/20 bilaterally. Posterior segment examination showed a right eye swollen optic disc and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) associated with an area of subretinal hemorrhage adjacent to the optic disc. Fundus fluorescein (FA) and indocyanine green angiographies (ICGA) of t...
متن کاملSubfoveal serous retinal detachment associated with extramacular branch retinal vein occlusion
PURPOSE To study the pathophysiology of subfoveal serous retinal detachment (SRD) observed in eyes with extramacular branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of nine patients (nine eyes) with extramacular BRVO with macular complications that were examined using optical coherence tomography (OCT). RESULTS Extramacular BRVO was observed in ...
متن کاملLong-Term Follow-Up Case of Multiple Retinal Arterial Macroaneurysms Developing Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion following Ruptured Macroaneurysm
PURPOSE Retinal arterial macroaneurysm (RAM) has been reported in association with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO), and usually BRVO precedes RAM. We present a long-term follow-up case report of unilateral multiple RAMs that developed BRVO following ruptured RAM in the same retinal quadrant. CASE PRESENTATION An 80-year-old woman presented with floaters in her right eye in June 2012. Vis...
